Backend Engineer – Payments

The Challenge
You’ll build and maintain systems handling deposits, withdrawals, and money movement across multiple currencies and payment methods. This requires engineers who understand payment processing complexities, regulatory requirements, and the importance of security and auditability.
The role demands expertise in payment systems, fraud prevention, and financial reconciliation.
What You’ll Do
- Design and build payment processing systems for deposits and withdrawals
- Integrate with payment service providers, banks, and crypto gateways
- Implement fraud detection and anti-money laundering (AML) checks
- Build reconciliation systems to ensure financial accuracy
- Handle multi-currency support and foreign exchange
- Ensure PCI DSS compliance and secure handling of financial data
- Build admin tools for operations teams to manage payments
- Monitor payment success rates and optimize conversion
- Participate in incident response for payment-related issues
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of backend development experience with focus on payments
- Strong knowledge of payment processing (cards, bank transfers, e-wallets)
- Experience integrating payment service providers (Stripe, Adyen, etc.)
- Understanding of PCI DSS, KYC/AML, and financial regulations
- Proficiency with Java, Python, or similar backend languages
- Experience with financial reconciliation and ledger systems
- Knowledge of cryptography and secure data handling
- Background in fintech, banking, or payment processing preferred
