Position: Job Opening for Finance Analyst United Arab Emirates

Position Summary

As a crucial member of the finance team, this role oversees all accounting activities within the hotel, ensuring adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards and local regulations. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the position manages accounting entries, maintains fixed asset registers across various regions, and collaborates with hotel operators and the GS team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include conducting monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures, managing the trial balance for all hotel operating units, and serving as a primary liaison for external audits. Additionally, the role supports internal audit efforts, identifying and mitigating financial risks in partnership with hotel operators.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Financial Control & Management
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of internal controls for development expenditure and Fixed Assets across all regions, recommending enhancements as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Manager to identify, communicate, and mitigate financial risks within the AMBU Finance “Hotels.”
  • Establish processes for regular reviews of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flows, ensuring accurate reconciliation of all financial balances, including cash, bank, and intercompany transactions down to individual asset levels.
  • Ensure timely capitalization of projects by the GS project team, aligning with IFRS and company policies.
  • Lead efforts to produce and deliver statutory accounts accurately and promptly, reflecting the financial status of the HBU.
  • Implement internal and external audit recommendations promptly across all locations, leveraging technology for process enhancement and leading systems implementation initiatives from financial and IT perspectives.
  • Establish robust control systems to prevent fraud and maintain appropriate controls throughout the HBU.
Financial Reporting and Transaction Processing

As the liaison between the Finance Manager and various departments within HBU, I am responsible for implementing and enforcing financial reporting policies and guidelines across projects, joint ventures, operating assets, and the head office. My duties include providing operational, economic, and accounting support to the Hotel Asset Management department, ensuring timely physical asset verification at hotels, and collaborating with the Global Solution team to reconcile balance sheets and maintain the Fixed Asset Register.

Compliance

I am dedicated to ensuring adherence to all local and corporate laws, rules, and regulations, as well as MAFP’s and HBU’s Finance Policies & Procedures. With custodianship over all company transaction records and assets at different levels within HBU, I maintain a meticulous approach to compliance. Additionally, I serve as a point of contact for external and internal auditors, assisting them with their requirements and facilitating a smooth auditing process.

Personal

Characteristics and Required Background

The ideal candidate for this role should possess a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related business discipline. They should have at least 5 years of experience in Hotel Accounting, demonstrating a solid understanding of financial principles specific to the hospitality industry. Proficiency in IFRS/IAS and local regulations and the ability to apply these standards effectively is essential.

Candidates should exhibit strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills and a keen commercial sense. The initiative, attention to detail, and self-motivation are crucial, as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for liaising effectively with various stakeholders.

A solid grasp of computer applications, particularly MS Excel, and proficiency in business solutions software is required. Experience working with Fusion, HFM, and hotel operators’ software such as Opera and Sun would be advantageous.
