Overview
The Planning Manager oversees the planning department, ensuring that all project schedules and strategies align with the organization’s goals.
Responsibilities- Develop and manage the master schedule.
- Lead strategic planning and resource forecasting.
- Prepare the project contractual critical path schedule and breakdown structure for submission and approval based on contract documents.
- Prepare regular updates using information received from PM, PCM, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Track the schedule of resources, plant and manpower to meet activity milestones and produce histograms.
- Update and track material schedules, including submission, approval, order, and delivery; ensure timely availability of materials to minimize storage and prevent negative schedule impact; produce related reports to the Head of Planning.
- Provide expert advice on schedule risk, recovery and mitigation; ensure program compliance with Planning Department SOP and contract requirements.
- Monitor, report and communicate baseline progress; review and approve all subcontractor baseline programmes, updates and reports.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, submit them to the client consultant; monitor works against the contract schedule; advise on schedule slippage and oversee recovery plans.
- Produce internal and external reports such as project budget statements, cash flow etc.; liaise with clients, contractors and senior management on planning matters.
- Lead and mentor a team of planning engineers; attend site meetings as required; manage meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Architecture Engineering.
- 15+ years of experience in planning roles on large/high‑rise building projects.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Extensive experience in claims, EOT analysis, and contractual terms.
- Extensive experience in schedule risk, recovery, and mitigation.
- Proficiency in project management software:
Primavera P6 and advanced Excel (Power BI preferred). - Professional attitude, confidence, strong stakeholder communication, analytical thinking, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to lead a team and elevate productivity percentage.
- Proficiency in English language (writing and speaking).
