Job Overview

A leading organization in Dubai is seeking an experienced Senior Director - Safety to lead enterprise-wide health, safety, and governance initiatives. This executive leadership role is responsible for developing and implementing safety strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, strengthening safety culture, and driving continuous improvement across multiple operational sites.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in industrial safety management, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven track record of developing effective safety management systems.

Key Responsibilities Safety Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and implement the organization's long-term safety strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of safety management systems, policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Provide expert guidance to senior leadership on health, safety, and compliance matters.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across all business operations.
  • Drive organizational initiatives focused on achieving world-class safety performance.
Safety Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, review, and improve company-wide safety policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of safety management systems through regular audits and assessments.
  • Lead internal and external safety compliance programs.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities when required.
Operational Safety Management
  • Oversee safety performance across multiple operational sites.
  • Identify workplace hazards and implement effective risk control measures.
  • Lead investigations into significant incidents and recommend corrective actions.
  • Review safety reports, incident trends, and performance metrics.
  • Support operational teams in maintaining safe working environments.
International Safety Programs
  • Develop consistent safety standards across regional and international operations.
  • Implement safety awareness campaigns and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Standardize safety reporting and performance monitoring processes.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and compliance reviews.
  • Ensure continuous improvement through benchmarking and best practices.
Team Leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing safety professionals.
  • Establish departmental objectives and performance indicators.
  • Support talent development, succession planning, and employee growth.
  • Encourage collaboration across departments to achieve safety objectives.
Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
  • Conduct enterprise-level risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce workplace incidents.
  • Analyze safety performance data and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Promote innovation in safety practices and operational excellence.
Budget & Stakeholder Management
  • Manage departmental budgets and optimize resource utilization.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, and external regulatory bodies.
  • Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to executive management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management, HSSE, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certification or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety is preferred.
  • Lead Audit certification is an advantage af.

Experience
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in industrial health and safety.
  • At least 4 years in a senior safety leadership or management role
    .
  • Experience with in manufacturing, heavy industry, energy, metals, or large industrial operations is highly desirable.
