Commis (Bakery) | Hilton Dubai Palm

At Hilton Dubai Palm Jumeirah, the Commis (Bakery) is responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality bakery items to deliver an excellent Guest and Member experience while assisting with food cost controls.

What will I be doing?

• Basic dough preparation.
• Ensure high productivity and standards of bread making and baking are maintained at all times.
• Assist in preparation of pastry, cakes, tarts, and breads.
• Assist in preparation of sweets required as per standard in all food & beverage outlets.
• Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality of food in outlets as well as fridges and freezes.
• Assist in requisitioning of food to kitchen.
• Prepare orders for the service team as required.
• Assist the Pastry Chef and the Pastry Team in the daily operations.
• Follow food safety program at all times.
• Keep all working areas clean and tidy and ensure no cross contamination.
• Prepare mise-en-place for all relevant menus.
• Assist in positive outcomes from guest queries in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ensure that all food items are stored correctly.
• Contribute to controlling the food costs.
• Be environmentally aware.

What are we looking for?

• Previous experience in bakery within a hotel environment.
• Solid bakery knowledge.
• Basic pastry knowledge.
• Basic food hygiene certificate.
• Positive attitude.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to work on own or in teams.

It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

• Experience in the hotel industry.
• Previous experience working in the pastry department.
