Senior Sales Engineer
The Sales Engineering team is looking for you! We are building a team that is adept at identifying customer pain points, developing solutions, presenting the Fastly value benefits and addressing any technical objections. To realize this, the Senior Sales Engineer should have a strong desire to utilize their technical and sales skills to understand the customer’s needs and requirements. The Senior Sales Engineer should be highly competent in positioning Fastly technology platform, assisting to develop a technical sales strategy, and have the ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Product Management, Product Marketing, Engineering.
Experience in delivering compelling demonstrations of cloud solutions, cyber security solutions and products is essential. Knowledge and experience in working with compute platforms is highly desirable.
- Understand customer needs and build a technical sales strategy
- Perform product demonstrations live in the field or via video conference
- Run highly technical evaluations including proof-of-concept (POC) setups
- Provide pre-sales support to customers in establishment of configurations and services
- Participate in product, sales and role-specific trainings so as to remain effective in your role
- Be able to contribute content for general customer enablement
- Assist in responding effectively to proposals, RFIs and RFPs
- Work closely with Account Executives and Account Managers
- Research prospects business/technology prior to engaging with the prospect
- Build and support customer POC/POV solutions (this can include Security solutions such as WAF, DDoS, Bot Management, as well as Delivery, Streaming, Edge Compute and Cloud Storage)
- This is a highly technical position with extensive hands‑on experience on Delivery, Web Application Security and Compute. Fundamental and prior experience in these fields are absolutely essential for success in this role
- As this role requires immediate local engagement and in-person customer interaction, current residency in Dubai is required. Please note we are not offering relocation assistance for this specific role
- Minimum of 5+ years of local market experience within the UAE (added advantage)
- Business-level proficiency in Arabic is highly preferred
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally. Candidates should not have any restrictions to travel to other countries in the GCC countries
- 10+ year experience in a similar role, preferably pre-sales and SE roles
- Experience selling to or working in relevant industry in a presales capacity required
- Hands‑on knowledge in cloud, security and web related technologies is required
- Customer facing experience, preferably executive level is essential
- Experience performing demos in front of both technical and business focused prospects. Strong experience running long term technical engagements, including POCs needed
- Knowledge of video streaming and W3 technologies is a plus
- Ability to code/learn a web scripting / programming language (Varnish / VCL / JavaScript / Rust / Go) is a plus
- Impeccable written communication skills are important
- Comfortable keeping up with technology trends in cloud services
- Open, curious and receptive to new ideas and ways of doing things
- Willing to mentor junior sales engineers learn and grow
- Willing to educate Account Executives and Account Managers
- Up to 50% travel might be required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a comparable field; or equivalent additional working experience is preferred
- This position will require you to work during scheduled hours from 9am - 6pm
- Due to the global scope of this role, core business hours may extend to US, Europe and APJ friendly time-zones for some engagements
This position is based in Dubai
This position will require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager
