Tradesman Painter
Prepares painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes, or removing old paint. Mixing, matching, and applying paints and other finishes to various surfaces.
Chooses and purchases paint, brushes, and other supplies from vendors and requests quotes and negotiates job prices.
Reads blueprints/instructions and examines surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary.
Makes on-site preparations such as building scaffolding, covering fixtures etc.
Prepares walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc.
Fills cracks and holes with appropriate material (e.g. plaster).
ResponsibilitiesMixes paint and other materials to prepare the right colour or texture.
Paints surfaces according to instructions with various tools.
Applies varnish and other finishes.
Calculates costs and negotiates prices.
Takes and adheres to all health and safety precautions.
Maintains a clean and safe workspace, and abides by workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
Abides other tasks as directed.
Implements Sustainable Practices/Policies in Facilities Management's operations.

QUALIFICATION:
PROFESSIONAL
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Painter
Knowledge of commercial and/or construction painting techniques
Knowledge of using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking guns etc.)
Knowledge of painting material and how to select, mix and apply them
Knowledge of basic math
Manual dexterity with excellent balance to work on scaffolding, ladders, etc
Ability to read and write English
Ability to lead a team of painters and be a good team player
