Job Purpose:

To act as the technical backbone of the workshop by diagnosing complex vehicle faults, guiding proper repair procedures, and ensuring high repair quality. The Master Technician plays a key role in resolving persistent issues, supporting team knowledge, and maintaining customer satisfaction through technical excellence.

Key Accountabilities:

Perform advanced diagnostic procedures to identify root causes of mechanical and electrical issues.

Apply structured diagnostic strategies to solve intermittent and chronic vehicle problems.

Carry out major mechanical repairs including engine overhauls, transmission repair, and drivetrain system fixes.

Understand and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and CAN bus systems to support basic to intermediate electrical troubleshooting.

Provide technical assistance to other technicians on complex issues and repairs.

Ensure correct usage of diagnostic tools (OEM software, oscilloscopes, multimeters).

Document diagnostic steps, root cause analysis, and corrective actions on job cards and service records.

Collaborate with Technical Support/Manufacturer hotline when needed for escalated issues.

Verify completion and quality of critical jobs, ensuring first time fix results.

Train and mentor junior technicians in technical problem-solving and best practices.

• Strong understanding of engine mechanical systems, fuel systems, cooling, and lubrication principles.
• Ability to read and follow diagnostic flowcharts and interpret error codes.
• Familiarity with basic automotive electrical systems, including relays, fuses, and grounding.
• Proficient in usage of OEM diagnostic tools, DTC readers, and digital test equipment.
• Logical problem-solving and root cause analysis mindset.
• Time-efficient with high attention to quality and safety.

Qualifications:

Diploma or Certification in Automotive Technology or equivalent.

Certified Master Technician from OEM or recognized training authority (preferred).

Minimum 7–10 years' experience in light vehicle maintenance and repair.

Computer literate – ability to use DMS and diagnostic software.
