Electric Vehicle Technician

Role Overview:

As a Diagnostic Technician for Electric Vehicles (EVs), you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing EVs using advanced diagnostic tools to identify issues and implement effective repairs. You aim to enhance customer satisfaction and retention by adhering to BYD’s standards and ensuring that all repairs are performed efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and resolve complex faults in EV systems, performing preventative maintenance as needed.
• Provide guidance and support to workshop team members, advising them on diagnosis procedures and optimal work practices.
• Maintain high-quality standards by minimizing job returns and ensuring work is completed correctly the first time.
• Foster clear and effective communication with the Service Advisor, Technical Advisor, Technical Support, and customers, documenting all work completed or required in an easily understandable manner.
• Contribute to process improvements by offering feedback on work procedures, tools, equipment, and the work environment.
• Ensure safety by preparing electric vehicles for work and overseeing junior technicians.
• Assist spare parts staff in selecting the correct parts and tools for repairs.
• Work closely with HSSE to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel handling EVs, providing safety recommendations as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Extensive knowledge of EV systems and components, including both high and low-voltage systems.
• Master Technician certification or equivalent industry qualification.
• Proven ability to mentor and guide workshop team members.
• Up-to-date knowledge of the latest EV technologies.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues and solutions to non-technical individuals.

Team Overview:

You will report directly to the Aftersales Manager and work in a fast-paced EV workshop environment.

Experience & Qualifications:

• 5-7 years of experience as a Diagnostic Technician with a background in retail automotive services.
• A valid UAE driving license.
