Electrical Technician

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections and tests on electrical systems and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures and control equipment in compliance with industry standards.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults using advanced testing tools and techniques, ensuring timely resolution.
• Interpret electrical schematics and blueprints to execute installations and modifications accurately.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to evaluate electrical components and suggest improvements for efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with local and national electrical codes during all installations and repairs.
• Document maintenance and repair activities in detailed reports for regulatory compliance and future reference.
• Assist in the development of preventative maintenance schedules to prolong equipment lifespan.
• Train and mentor junior technicians in safe electrical practices and troubleshooting methodologies.
• Participate in safety audits and contribute to the enhancement of safety protocols within the workplace.

• A diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, showcasing foundational knowledge.
• Experience in troubleshooting complex electrical systems, demonstrating problem-solving skills in real-time.
• Certification as a Journeyman or Master Electrician, affirming expertise and commitment to the profession.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience in electrical installation and maintenance in an industrial setting.
• Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and advanced automation technologies.
• Strong foundational knowledge of electrical codes and safety regulations, ensuring compliance in all tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including schematics and operational manuals.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with teams and clear reporting of findings.
• Physical stamina and dexterity to handle tools and equipment safely, often in challenging environments.
