Job Purpose
The Data Center Mechanical Technician is responsible for ensuring that all Mechanical, Plumbing, and HVAC equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The Technician serves as an expert technical resource reporting and interacting with onsite engineers and any third‑party vendors. Data center equipment that supports mission‑critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.
Key Responsibilities- Responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks and daily visual inspections on major data center equipment.
- Daily checking healthiness of all facilities equipment and keeping daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
- Repair and maintenance work on a wide range of Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, and ELV equipment.
- Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility Mechanical systems.
- Maintain, operate all Mechanical HVAC related systems and associated equipment, and the building management system.
- Perform facility inspections and report on condition affecting operations.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
- Create the Job cards in CAFM FSI Mobile App as per site requirements and close the Job cards assigned by the engineer.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to emergency calls.
- Prepare and submit summary reports of conditions in buildings and recommend actions to be taken.
- Review and understand equipment and methods of operation for Mechanical systems, ELV system, HVAC system, and other trade‑related systems.
- Comply with all safety procedures and requirements.
- Maintain essential stock of spare parts.
- Support after‑hours building needs and activities as required.
- Attend training sessions and seminars.
- Other assigned tasks as requested.
Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of Mechanical systems (generators, chillers, pumps, motors, bearings).
- Good knowledge of cooling systems (HVACs, chillers, VRV).
- Good knowledge of ELV systems (DDC, BMS, access control, CCTV, fire alarm).
- Working knowledge of Mechanical systems and associated tools and equipment.
- Skill in installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of Mechanical system equipment and components.
Personal Skills
- Basic English knowledge is required.
- Basic working knowledge of PC systems and CAFM Mobile Apps.
- Persistent and self‑motivated with excellent organizational skills.
- Initiative to learn and take on new responsibilities.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Good problem‑solving skills and ability to meet demanding time constraints.
- Strong team player who can influence, develop, and maintain relationships with internal and external contacts.
- Technical Diploma Degree or ITI (minimum 5+ years of experience).
- 1–2 year experience in Data Center Maintenance field.
- 3+ years total experience in Mechanical/HVAC field in similar environment.
- Data Center Certifications will be an added advantage.
