Electrical Technician
Job Purpose
The Electrical Technician is responsible for ensuring that all Electrical ELV Generators and fire life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The Technician serves as an expert technical resource, reporting and interacting with onsite Engineers and any third‑party vendors.
They are expected to be a single focal point for all facility operations within a given data center. The Technician should be able to support the DC‑operations for delivering 99 999 uptime. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, stand‑by diesel generators, switch gear, UPSs, PDUs, and building automation systems like BMS and DCIM.
- Perform routine building maintenance tasks and daily visual inspections on major data center equipment.
- Daily check the health of all facility equipment: UPS, LV panels, switchgears, busway systems, BMS, DCIM controllers, ELV systems, and keep daily logs and records of all maintenance functions.
- Repair and maintain a wide range of electrical equipment.
- Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility electrical and ELV systems.
- Maintain and operate all electrical systems and associated equipment, including building management systems.
- Perform facility inspections and report on conditions that affect operations.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment, appliances, and apparatus.
- Create and close job cards in CAFM/FSI Mobile App as per site requirements and supervisor assignments.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to emergency calls.
- Prepare and submit summary reports of building conditions and recommend actions.
- Review and understand equipment and methods of operation for electrical, ELV, fire life safety, and other systems.
- Comply with HSE norms and understand the PTW process.
- Work in shifts on a 24x7 basis.
- Drive operational requirements with minimum supervision and guidance.
- Understand the criticality of business uptime for data center facility operations.
- Comply with all safety procedures and requirements.
- Maintain essential spare parts stock.
- Support any after‑hours building needs and activities as required.
- Attend training sessions and seminars.
- Perform other assigned tasks as requested.
- Good knowledge of power systems (UPS's, control panels, DB’s, busway systems, generators).
- Basic knowledge of cooling systems (HVACs, chillers, fire and safety, BMS, ELV systems).
- Working knowledge of UPS systems and associated switch gear and distribution panels.
- Working knowledge of standby generator systems and associated switch gear.
- Skill in installation, repair, and maintenance of all types of electrical system equipment and components.
- Personal skills for all technicians.
- Basic English knowledge required.
- Basic working knowledge of PC systems and CAFM mobile apps.
- Persistent and self‑motivated.
- Excellent organizational skills and initiative to learn and take on new responsibilities.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Good problem‑solving skills and ability to meet demanding time constraints.

- Diploma/ITI in Electrical and Electronics.
- 3‑year experience in integrated data center maintenance/operations.
- 5‑year experience in electrical maintenance.
