Overhaul Generator Mechanic – Generator Engines

Responsibilities

Service, overhaul and repair diesel generator engines (e.g., Perkins, Cummins, Volvo, Doosan, Baudouin).

Diagnose engine faults by analysing test results, error codes and operator feedback using diagnostic and testing equipment.

Carry out top‑end and major engine overhauls, including cylinder heads, pistons, liners, bearings, injectors, pumps and turbochargers.

Repair and maintain cooling, fuel, lubrication, exhaust and air‑intake systems.

Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear, and repair or replace as necessary.

Study manufacturer manuals and specifications for correct assembly tolerances and torque settings.

Disassemble, repair and reassemble engines; perform test‑run and load‑test to verify repairs.

Clean, lubricate and adjust parts, equipment and machinery.

Record all repairs and maintenance performed; order or requisition parts and materials as needed.

Apply and enforce safety regulations for all work on site and in the yard.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanic specialising in diesel generator engines to lead the servicing, overhaul and repair of our generator fleet. You will diagnose and resolve engine faults, carry out major and minor overhauls, and keep our gensets ready for hire. This is a hands‑on, technical role that requires round‑the‑clock availability.
