The Senior Commercial Loan Processor/Closer functions as a subject matter expert and key operational partner within the commercial lending division, bearing primary responsibility for the independent management of complex commercial loan transactions from initial intake through final funding. This includes overseeing loan processing, documentation preparation, due diligence analysis, closing coordination, and comprehensive risk assessment. The role involves evaluating loan approval requirements, analyzing documentation and due diligence findings, and identifying and mitigating transactional risks.
The individual provides well-reasoned, examiner-defensible recommendations to management, underwriting, and lending officers regarding loan structure, documentation adequacy, condition satisfaction, collateral perfection, and overall funding readiness in alignment with approved credit terms and underwriting guidance. The position exercises discretion and independent judgment in coordinating and managing commercial loan transactions and resolving documentation and compliance issues in line with lending policies and procedures.
The Senior Commercial Loan Processor independently prioritizes workload, evaluates transaction readiness, determines documentation requirements, identifies operational and compliance risks, and contributes to process improvements and audit readiness.
- Commercial Loan Transaction Management
- Independently manage commercial loan transactions from intake through closing and funding, determining workflow priorities, transaction readiness, documentation requirements, and closing strategies.
- Analyze loan requests, approved credit structures, commitment terms, and underwriting approvals to identify documentation requirements, due diligence needs, collateral considerations, closing requirements, and operational risks.
- Maintain oversight of the loan pipeline, identify delays, documentation deficiencies, policy exceptions, and operational risks; implement corrective action plans to meet timelines and service standards.
- Communicate transaction status, emerging risks, and recommended solutions to lending officers, underwriters, management, and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate competing priorities across multiple transactions while ensuring compliance with timelines and service standards.
- Documentation Analysis and Risk Assessment
- Review borrower, guarantor, entity, collateral, and third-party documentation for completeness, consistency, and compliance with internal policies and legal requirements.
- Identify documentation deficiencies, legal concerns, collateral issues, policy exceptions, and operational risks; provide independent judgments and recommendations.
- Evaluate whether documentation and due diligence requirements have been met in accordance with organizational policies.
- Recommend documentation sufficiency, condition clearance, funding readiness, and risk mitigation strategies within authority and approved credit parameters.
- Analyze policy and documentation exceptions and transaction structures; propose resolution strategies to management, lending personnel, underwriting, and legal counsel.
- Apply organizational policies and lending requirements to complex transaction structures.
- Third-Party Due Diligence Oversight
