A Brief Overview The Manager of Perioperative Services is responsible for day-to-day leadership and operational management of perioperative nursing and clinical operations within the Interventional and Procedural Services Platform. Scope includes Operating Room operations and associated pre/post, PACU, and procedural recovery functions as assigned.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Procedural Nursing and Clinical Operations, the Manager leads assistant nurse managers and staff to deliver safe, efficient, reliable, patient-centered surgical and procedural care. The role is accountable for staffing, scheduling, case readiness, room flow, clinical practice standards, quality and safety follow-up, employee engagement, regulatory readiness, and collaboration with surgeons, anesthesia, SPD, supply chain, and procedural scheduling.

Locations Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley What you will do Daily Operations and Case Readiness Manage daily perioperative operations, staffing assignments, case readiness, add-on coordination, room flow, turnover performance, and recovery capacity coordination.

Lead or participate in daily procedural huddles and ensure timely escalation of staffing gaps, instrument issues, equipment constraints, vendor needs, and recovery bottlenecks.

Ensure reliable pre-procedure readiness, H&P/consent/lab/medication readiness processes, surgical safety checklist completion, and handoff standard work.

Team Leadership and Workforce Management Supervise assistant nurse managers, charge nurses, and team members as assigned.

Support recruitment, onboarding, competency completion, scheduling, performance feedback, corrective action, retention, and staff engagement.

Promote a culture of accountability, psychological safety, service excellence, and teamwork.

Quality, Safety, and Regulatory Compliance Monitor quality and safety events, near misses, retained item risks, specimen labeling defects, infection prevention issues, and procedural verification reliability.

Partner with Quality, Infection Prevention, SPD, Nursing Professional Development, and the Senior Director to implement corrective actions and sustain regulatory readiness.
· Ensure staff adherence to policies, clinical standards, documentation expectations, C-I-CARE, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Operational Improvement and Resource Stewardship Improve first-case on-time starts, turnover time, cancellation avoidance, case duration accuracy, preference card accuracy, and staffing productivity.

Partner with SPD and supply chain to strengthen instrument readiness, case cart completeness, preference card accuracy, implant/device processes, and vendor tray reliability.

Manage budgeted expenditures, supplies, staffing resources, overtime, call utilization, and productivity within established expectations.

Key Performance Metrics First-case on-time starts, turnover time, case duration accuracy, cancellation rate, room utilization, add-on performance, and recovery throughput.

Staffing productivity, overtime, call utilization, vacancy, turnover, engagement, competency completion, and certification.

Surgical safety checklist reliability, retained item events, specimen labeling defects, infection prevention indicators, safety event closure, and regulatory readiness.

Preference card accuracy, tray accuracy, case cart completeness, instrument availability, and equipment readiness.
