PositionThe Solution Architect I (Enterprise Technology Architecture) reports directly to the Manager of Systems Architecture and is based in Dublin, CA. The role is highly visible, engaging with IT, business partners, and external technology providers to shape Ross’s technology landscape. Key focus areas include driving the IT strategy and roadmap and evaluating, selecting and designing technology solutions for critical business portfolios such as Supply Chain and Stores.
Base salary range: $114,300 – $195,000 (dependent on experience, skills, qualifications, and location). This is one component of the total compensation package.
Key Responsibilities- Provide enterprise‑level architecture consultancy, thought leadership, and technical guidance for strategic projects across programs and business portfolios.
- Address enterprise technology architecture aspects, including technology solutions, strategies, feasibility insights, and how supporting technologies fit together and evolve over time.
- Conduct TCO and ROI analysis to understand and convey the financial impact of architecture solutions.
- Prepare and present architecture solutions and strategic proposals to executives and other stakeholders.
- Participate in the five‑year planning and annual budgeting process, delivering actionable recommendations to drive business outcomes.
- Track technology lifecycle, influence the long‑term plan to account for obsolescence and risk, and maintain alignment with enterprise objectives.
- Collaborate with IT and business partners to define roadmap enablers, explore options, build the architecture runway, and provide early feedback to meet milestones.
- Work with peer architects (enterprise, domain, security) to analyze business strategy and trends, developing the future state technology architecture.
- Facilitate the research, evaluation, and selection of hardware and software standards and the design of configuration baselines.
- Develop, document, and maintain architecture standards and patterns.
- Ensure alignment with other enterprise, application, and portfolio architects for holistic solutions.
- Guarantee completion of architecture and project deliverables on time and within budget, achieving anticipated business outcomes.
- Create solution designs that leverage Ross architecture standards and services, meeting key criteria such as availability, recoverability, scalability, and performance.
- Provide architectural and technical input for definition, estimation, and delivery of projects.
- Engage external resources or third parties (system integrators, vendors) to assess technology required for current and emerging solutions.

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field OR equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in IT, technology solutions, infrastructure technologies, architecture, or consulting.
- Deep understanding of end‑to‑end supply‑chain functions (Plan–Source–Make–Deliver) with a focus on warehouse operations and logistics.
- Technical competence in supply‑chain and related technology systems.
- Demonstrated 5+ years of enterprise or technology architecture experience in retail or a related industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft technologies:
Windows Server 2019/2022/2025, SQL Server 2016/2019/2022, Active Directory & Entra , SCCM, Intune, CMG, Microsoft Certificate Services, Azure Services. - Unix/Linux expertise: RHEL 8/9, Solaris, Oracle Database.
