What’s the role?The Head of Supply Chain and Logistics is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational performance, and continuous improvement of Carl Zeiss Meditec USA's end-to-end supply chain, logistics, inventory management, warehousing, distribution, and transportation network. This role has overall accountability for all company-owned inventory across U.S. 3PL distribution centers, regional warehouses, field inventory locations, consignment inventory, and demo asset pools, ensuring optimal inventory availability, accuracy, compliance, traceability, and cost efficiency.
The position leads all inbound and outbound logistics operations, transportation management, freight optimization, returns, dispositioning, reverse logistics, and business continuity programs while ensuring adherence to service level agreements, regulatory requirements, quality standards, audit expectations, and customer commitments. The role serves as the executive owner for logistics provider governance, establishing performance expectations, managing strategic supplier relationships, conducting quarterly business reviews, and driving accountability through KPI management and operational excellence initiatives.
This leader develops and executes supply chain strategies that support revenue growth, scalability, service readiness, customer satisfaction, and organizational objectives. Responsibilities include logistics network optimization, inventory governance, demand and supply planning collaboration, inventory segmentation strategies, warehouse capacity planning, freight spend management, transportation sourcing, and risk mitigation activities designed to improve resilience and operational efficiency across the supply chain.
The Head of Supply Chain and Logistics owns the company's inventory control framework and is accountable for inventory accuracy, cycle count programs, physical inventory compliance, product lifecycle management, excess and obsolete inventory reduction, inventory investment optimization, and audit readiness. This position partners closely with Finance, Quality, Regulatory, Service, Commercial Operations, Procurement, Customer Service, and Global Supply Chain teams to align operational priorities, improve forecasting accuracy, and ensure seamless product availability to support customer and business needs.
The role is responsible for supply chain financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, inventory carrying cost management, logistics spend optimization, capital planning, contract negotiation, supplier qualification, and strategic partner selection. Leveraging analytics, automation, and digital transformation initiatives, these individual drives continuous improvement programs that enhance productivity, reduce operational costs, increase inventory visibility, and improve service performance.
As a senior Operations leader, the Head of Supply Chain and Logistics is responsible for organizational design, talent development, succession planning, leadership coaching, and performance management for the Logistics, Purchasing, and Inventory Control organizations. The role establishes a culture of accountability, customer focus, operational excellence, and continuous improvement while building scalable capabilities to support future business growth and evolving market requirements.
