JOB SUMMARY
This role serves as the strategic leader for the projects and install team within the Western region. We operate in a 'hybrid first' work environment. They report directly to the regional Operations Manager and the regional Project Coordinators and support staff report to them. Their primary responsibility is to ensure smooth and efficient operations of project and install work within the region.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- All team members must embody the company mission to provide protection for people, property, and the environment in all aspects of their job.
- Responsible for ensuring all Projects' associates embrace the safety culture and comply with all safety initiatives.
- Mentor and develop associates for long-term opportunities to support growth of the individual and the organization.
- Hire and onboard new associates to set them up for success at ORR.
- Oversee the scheduling of projects and installation work.
- Review and approve requests for bids.
- Track and analyze financial information to ensure health of the business.
- Resolve customer issues or complaints and maintain healthy working relationships with regional customers.
- Responsible for ensuring maintenance of regional licenses/certifications and permits.
- Work with regional Operations Manager and Sales Managers in a technical capacity as needed. Advise of job status and critical budget, scope change, and/or customer satisfaction information.
- Work with the Design department throughout a job to ensure proper design, accurate submittals, as built drawings, and proper documentation.
- Submit design drawings to authorities having jurisdiction to obtain required approvals.
- Ensure all systems meet applicable Federal, State and local codes, manufacturer's requirements, and ORR Protection Systems standard practices and procedures.
- Ensure all systems meet the customer's specifications and expectations.
- Conduct system checkouts, system testing, customer training, and other related functions.
- Ensure that complete and correct documentation of a system is completed including, but not limited to, check out reports, test reports, job closing reports, customer training reports, and as-built drawings.
- Responsible for proper care and use of test equipment and tools that are assigned by the company. Responsible for the control and calibration of inspection, measuring and test equipment that is under their control.
- Responsible for conforming to and ensuring associates are knowledgeable and conforming to the company's quality system.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent, required.
- Post-secondary education in related technical or business field, preferred.
- 5 years' experience in fire protection or related industry, required.
- 1 year supervisory or project coordination experience, required.
- NICET Certification, preferred.
- May be required to obtain state or manufactures certificates in some cases.
- Previous experience, training or proficiency in some or all the following types of systems:
- Conventional Fire Detection Systems
- Specialized Fire Detection (Air Sampling)
- Explosion Protection Systems
- Fire Suppression Systems
- Room Integrity Testing
- Leak Detection Systems
- Recharge and reconditioning agent storage containers
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to effectively communicate to a diverse group of individuals including company leadership, regional staff, customers, and vendors.
- Strong, positive team builder with leadership ability.
- Ability to attract, develop, grow and retain a team.
- Strong understanding of P & L components and relationships.
- Ability to track and control costs.
- Proficient with MS Office.
- Ability to utilize various computer systems including an FSM, Accounting and LMS systems.
- Basic organization and time management skills.
- Knowledge of current fire alarm and clean agent/special hazard fire suppression systems.
- Understanding of electrical/electronic and mechanical piping networks as required.
- Ability to read blueprints and make mark-ups as required to depict actual as-built conditions.
- Ability to read manufacturer's instructions and manuals as required to connect, program and checkout various fire protection and related systems.
- This is primarily an office role, with site visits required on occasion for customer service or mentorship of field associates.
- Overnight travel required up to 25% of the time.
- All associates are required to pass a drug screen, background check and motor vehicle report.
