The Executive Vice President is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight. Reporting to the Financial Board, this position ensures the effective implementation of board policies, financial sustainability, regulatory compliance, and market growth while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and service excellence. This position will consult with multiple arms of the organization to drive, preserve and celebrate the rich Portuguese heritage.
ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership and Governance
- Develop and execute the strategic plan in collaboration with the Financial Board of Directors.
- Provide visionary leadership ensuring long-term growth, financial stability, and member-focused services.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with the multiple boards of the organization, regulatory bodies, insurance/financial partners, and key stakeholders.
- Report during the financial board of directors' monthly meetings and as needed on financial performance, strategic initiatives and organizational health.
- Oversee financial operations, ensuring fiscal responsibility, financial transparency, and regulatory compliance and ensure sound investment management practices.
- Develop and manage the annual budget, aligning financial resources with strategic priorities.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee sales and operations of multiple locations, while supporting and promoting profitable goals and objectives.
- Oversee risk management strategies, cybersecurity initiatives, and data protection policies while monitoring industry trends, legal changes and emerging risks.
- Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations, (i.e. NAIC, GAAP, FAR, CAS, and state insurance laws).
- Maintain a strong governance framework that upholds ethical business practices and fiduciary responsibilities.
- Oversee marketing, branding, and communication strategies and drive new market development.
- Foster innovation and digital transformation, including new product offerings, and technology adoption.
- Strengthen relationships with financial and insurance industry partners to expand business opportunities.
- Lead efforts to expand and retain membership, enhance member engagement, and increase brand recognition.
- As the primary spokesperson, advocate for and engage with members, partners, and industry leaders.
- Attend visits, meetings and annual conventions.
- Enhance member value through innovative programs, benefits, and services.
- Ensure transparent and effective communication between leadership, staff and members.
- As a high-performing executive leader, build and lead forward thinking teams.
- Oversee succession planning and development initiatives.
- Implement policies that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion across all levels of the organization.
- Assist with full-cycle recruiting and training. Oversee evaluations and head employee discipline and termination.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, economics, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred. A minimum of 5 years in financial, insurance and sales management.
- A minimum of 2 years executive level experience in financial services, insurance or sales.
- Proven track record of leading organizations through growth, change management, and innovation.
- Experience in strategic planning and board governance.
- Strong understanding of insurance and financial regulations, risk management, and investment strategies.
- Ability to build high-performing teams and foster a positive organizational culture.
- Experience with digital transformation, technology adoption, and member engagement strategies.
- Visionary leadership with the ability to develop and execute a long-term strategic vision.
- Strong analytical skills with expertise in financial management, budgeting, and possess financial acumen.
- In-depth knowledge of industry laws, compliance, and risk management.
- Ability to drive business expansion and adapt to market changes.
- Strong relationship-building skills with multiple boards, regulators, and members.
- Ability to optimize internal processes and enhance efficiency.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Experience in implementing new technologies and business models.
Have the ability to travel as needed for conferences, conventions, meetings, visits/events, regulatory meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
CompensationThe salary range for this position is $180,000 to $250,000 annually. The offer will be dependent on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
