A well-established Care Retirement Community in the East Bay, CA is seeking a seasoned Accounting Director to lead its financial operations. This individual will oversee all accounting functions and play a critical role in financial strategy, audit readiness, budgeting, and compliance.
Responsibilities- Supervise and mentor accounting team members.
- Promote cross-departmental collaboration and financial accountability.
- Organize accounting workflows to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Conduct regular team meetings to encourage communication and alignment.
- Serve as Director on Duty and be available for on-call responsibilities.
- Prepare and deliver timely monthly financial reports.
- Manage all general ledger functions, including A/R, A/P, payroll, and fixed assets.
- Oversee billing processes for both independent living and health center services.
- Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts on a regular basis.
- Maintain and reconcile Master Trust schedules and other financial records.
- Support and manage the annual budgeting process.
- Lead annual audit and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Ensure timely submission of required financial reports to regulatory agencies.
- Monitor internal controls and tax-related processes, including payroll tax filings.
- Present financial updates and recommendations to executive leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on accounting leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- Proficient in general ledger, A/P, A/R, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Skilled in financial analysis, budgeting, and audit preparation.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Experience in healthcare, senior living, or nonprofit environments is a plus.
