What’s the role?

The Senior Director Marketing is responsible for the development and execution of national, downstream marketing and distribution strategies; supporting the Sales Management and field sales force in marketing matters (including assisting in the management of distributor relations) and managing related budgeting and revenue planning functions for Carl Zeiss Meditec’s Field of Business Surgical (Neuro, ENT, IORT, Dental, Spine, Services) in the United States.

Supports the Group’s upstream marketing efforts by closely interfacing with the respective upstream teams, (located in Germany & China) on local market needs and requirements. The Senior Director is influential in executing CZMI’s internal as well as external growth strategies and takes the lead on all USA marketing activities related to this Field of Business (FOB).

Here’s what you’ll do:
  • Direct U.S. FOB Marketing organization to achieve annual sales and profit plans.

  • Assist in the development of the FOB Market plan products and develop and execute the local implementation.

  • Develop successful working relationships with Field of Business Leadership, Business Sector Leadership and product development to ensure all current and future product developments are supported with timely and effective communications programs for common goals of the business.

  • Contribute to new product development plans and programs, including the successful launch of products to the FOB and the USA Market.

  • Plan, organize, staff, train and develop CZMI’s FOB marketing personnel.

  • Develop, implement and manage annual budget, compensation plan and motivational programs for department personnel.

  • Plan, organize, staff, train and develop CZMI’s FOB marketing personnel.

  • Interact with all levels of the organization, customers, KOL’s, vendors and industry competitors.

  • Manage Product Marketing Managers.

  • Plan, organize and conduct meetings and discussion groups, including annual sales and interim sales management meetings.

  • Develop and manage promotional plans and materials for major trade shows.

  • Support Sales organization in upgrading, changing, motivating, managing and maintaining “elite” direct and distributor network.

  • Identify and develop new local strategic alliances to broaden CZMI’s commercial opportunities.

  • Capitalize on fresh revenue opportunities; implement for maximum effect within distribution channel.

Do you qualify?
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA a plus.

  • Minimum 12 years of progressive marketing and sales/sales management experience, or related experience, preferably in the medical device industry. Distributor management experience preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years personnel management experience required.

  • Capital equipment experience in the medical / surgical setting (e.g. Neurosurgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dental) essential.

  • Visualization systems are a plus.

  • Strong direct and distributor sales/“downstream marketing” experience mandatory.

  • Strong marketing leadership and decision‑making skills critical.

  • Successful experience managing and leading professional staff.

  • Polished oral presentation and written communication skills.

  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to clearly communicate policy decisions company strategy and vision.

  • Experienced knowledge of financial analysis and analysis tools (i.e. spreadsheets, etc.).

  • Organizational agility to work across functions, business sectors and customers and markets.
