Manufacturing & Industrial Engineer to drive manufacturing excellence, productivity improvement, process optimization, and operational efficiency for high-precision optical and microscopy products. The role focuses on Lean transformation, industrial engineering practices, line balancing, process improvement, factory optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities Manufacturing Engineering
  • Develop, optimize, and sustain manufacturing and assembly processes for precision optical and microscopy systems.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), process validation, pilot builds, and production ramp-up activities.
  • Improve productivity, yield, takt time, throughput, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Lead tooling, fixture, workstation, and assembly equipment development initiatives.
  • Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, PFMEA, control plans, and manufacturing process documentation.
  • Perform root cause analysis (RCA), corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and process troubleshooting.
  • Support automation, digital manufacturing, and Industry 4.0 implementation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, and Manufacturing.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives including Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, ECRS, and waste elimination activities.
  • Conduct time and motion studies using MODAPTS and MOST methodologies.
  • Perform value stream mapping (Current State & Future State VSM) and identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct VA/NVA/RNVA analysis to improve operational efficiency and eliminate non-value-added activities.
  • Perform line balancing studies using Yamazumi charts for high-volume and high-mix production environments.
  • Analyze production data and perform capacity planning, utilization analysis, bottleneck identification, and headcount optimization.
  • Improve factory flow, material movement, and internal logistics through Lean principles.
  • Develop and maintain factory layouts, workstation designs, and capacity expansion plans using AutoCAD/Factory CAD tools.
  • Conduct ergonomics studies to improve workplace safety, operator efficiency, and manufacturing productivity.
  • Monitor and improve key production metrics including UPH, UPPH, Cycle Time, Yield, Headcount, and Quality Performance Levels (QPL).
Continuous Improvement & Operations
  • Lead productivity improvement and cost-reduction projects across manufacturing operations.
  • Implement countermeasures to eliminate waste and improve process flow efficiency.
  • Support daily operational reviews, cycle-time improvement initiatives, and manufacturing performance tracking.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects focused on reducing indirect labor costs and improving operational throughput.
  • Support supplier manufacturing and contract manufacturing (CM) operational improvements.
  • Train and mentor operators, technicians, CM teams, and junior engineers on industrial engineering tools, Lean methodologies, and standard work practices.
Qualification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering or related field in Engineering
  • 7-10+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering and Industrial Engineering roles within:
  • Precision Manufacturing
  • Electronics Manufacturing
  • Medical Devices
  • Optical Systems
  • High-Tech Manufacturing Environment

The expected salary range for this position is between $75,000 to $1,26,000 annually. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business line, and geographic/office location.
