SUMMARY:

Our Maintenance Technician is responsible for general repair and maintenance of the equipment and machinery within our shop and steel yard.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and repairs on engines, motors, pneumatic and hydraulic machinery, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and air powered equipment to determine flaws.
  • Cleans and maintains tools and equipment used for machine maintenance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Occasional overnight travel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior experience in manufacturing/fabrication shop is preferred but not required.
  • Mechanical and electrical experience is preferred but not required.
  • Electronic and automation controls preferred but not required.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Positive attitude and desire to work as a team player.
  • Follow safety procedures including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50lbs regularly and up to 75lbs occasionally with assistance.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms to handle materials, tools, and welding equipment and machines.
  • Ability to kneel, crouch, climb, or work in awkward positions to complete work.
  • Visual acuity to read measurements, inspect welds, and maintain quality standards.
  • Use of ladders or lifts.
  • Exposure to welding fumes, bright light (arc flash), heat, sparks, and airborne particles.
  • Everyday use of PPE including flame-resistant clothing, welding helmet, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety-toe boots.
  • Climate conditions vary in production areas from hot in the summer to cold in the winter.
