Character Education Teacher
Dublin Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Character Education Teacher to inspire students in grades 5-8 to develop strong character, leadership skills, social-emotional competencies, and responsible decision-making. The ideal candidate will create an engaging classroom environment that promotes integrity, respect, empathy, perseverance, citizenship, and academic success while supporting the school's positive culture and climate.
Essential Functions:
- Develops and administers school art curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
- Plan and deliver engaging Character Education lessons aligned with Georgia standards and district expectations.
- Teach topics such as:
Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Leadership, Empathy, Citizenship, Conflict Resolution, Digital Citizenship, Goal Setting, Growth Mindset, Bullying Prevention, College and Career Readiness. - Foster positive relationships with students and families.
- Implement restorative practices and promote positive student behavior.
- Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and teachers to support students' academic and social-emotional growth.
- Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback.
- Incorporate project-based learning, service learning, and leadership opportunities.
- Maintain accurate student records and classroom documentation.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional learning, and school events.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
Additional Duties:
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
Equipment Use:
Standard office equipment such as; personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements:
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Work Schedule:
Standard teacher work schedule as set forth in the Teachers' Unit Contract.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of instructional teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of Character Education curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards:
Work in standard office and school building environments.
Qualifications Profile:
- Certification/License: [State] State Certification as a Character Education teacher or as required for position.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
- Education Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment. Masters Degree preferred.
- Experience Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level and/or subject is a plus.
