Position SummaryAssist in the care and treatment of patients as delegated by a physician.
Responsibilities- Promote and maintain patient health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.
- Obtain a detailed patient history and record appropriate findings in the patient records.
- Complete a systematic and thorough physical examination. Make diagnoses concerning a patient’s injury or illness. Give treatment such as setting broken bones.
- Prescribe medicine when needed and perform salutary procedures such as administering injections and managing wounds and infections.
- Order, perform, interpret, and schedule diagnostic studies when appropriate.
- Provide counseling on health habits, exercise, tobacco, and alcohol.
- Provide instruction on supervising physician’s orders: diet, physical therapy, use of physical adjuncts to therapy.
- Assist supervising physician in management of hospitalized patients, including checking clinical status, explaining tests, reporting progress, documenting care, arranging post-hospitalization follow-up, and assisting in surgery.
- Maintain patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
- Understand and comply with current laws, rules and regulations governing PA or NP practice of the state.
- Utilize effective communication skills (written and verbal) interacting with co-workers, other clinic employees, supervisors, and outside vendors.
- Promote clinic’s role in the community by greeting and interacting with all patients, families, visitors, vendors, and guests.
- Provide support or relief for other staff as needed.
- Demonstrate confidentiality in all aspects, including patient and non‑patient issues.
- Promote resolution of concerns and conflict by routing through the correct mechanism.
- Prioritize daily functions/tasks; put forth effort in problem solving; other duties as assigned.
Requires full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye‑hand coordination. Requires sitting for prolonged periods. Requires occasional stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions.

Position RequirementsExperience:
One (1) year experience in orthopaedics preferred.
Education:
Master’s degree from a regionally accredited PA or NP program required.
Special
Qualifications:
NCCPA Board Certification or NP Board certified. Must maintain BLS certification. Current State License required. DEA required. Must have satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
