Material Handler, Forklift Operator
Summary
The purpose of this position is to carry out assigned duties, primarily focused on material handling within the Shipping department but supporting all departmental needs as business demands require.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Moves materials from packed staging area to shipping and storage area.
- Returns empty pallets to packing area for reuse.
- Performs daily maintenance and inspection of forklift.
- Assists in loading and unloading of inbound and outbound shipments.
- Assists in combining pallets to better utilize warehouse space.
- Maintains a clean work area.
- Completes any other related duties required and/or assigned by supervisor or manager.
- Operates a side loader.
- Preferred at least 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment as a material handler.
- Preferred at least 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment as a mobile equipment operator.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively for up to 12 hours per shift.
- Good computer skills.
- Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
The hourly pay range for this position ranges from $17.88 to $21.35, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
Travel RequirementsThe travel required for this position is 1%.
Physical DemandsThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Proper lifting techniques are required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or lift.
Work may require wearing safety protective equipment. Noise level is usually loud. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and vibration.
