Position Summary: The Accounting Manager is a key leadership role within the Accounting Department at VARGO®, responsible for overseeing daily financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision‑making. The role supervises the Accounts Receivable Specialist and the Staff Accountant, collaborates with cross‑functional teams, ensures compliance with GAAP and internal controls, assists in budgeting and forecasting, and supports audits and financial planning initiatives.

Classification: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Department: Accounting
Travel Required: Minimal (0 - 10 %)

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
  • Manage cash flow and monitor bank accounts to ensure proper balances are maintained.
  • Assist the CFO with the budgeting and forecasting processes, including variance analysis and financial planning.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the coordination of external audits, including preparation of required documentation.
  • Assist in preparing information for annual tax filings.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing training, performance evaluations, and professional development.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Implement and improve accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition and cost accounting practices, particularly in a project‑driven business environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required;
    Master’s is a plus.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, including 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP Business One preferred.

  • Advanced understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform computer‑based tasks.
  • Ability to lift and carry office materials (up to 20 lbs).
  • Comfortable working in an office environment with occasional deadlines and time‑sensitive tasks.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Speak, read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Continuously sit, type, and perform repetitive wrist motion.
  • Occasionally stand, walk, bend, squat/kneel, twist/turn or reach.
  • Focus (with or without corrective lenses) to see close and distant, with depth perception capabilities.
