Position: Seasonal Event Worker (Hospitality)

Seasonal Event Workers assist in the implementation of the City of Dublin's signature events.

Scheduling/Availability
  • This is a temporary/seasonal position that works from approximately March-August
  • The ideal candidate will be available to start working immediately
  • Successful candidates must be available to work July 4 & July 31-August 2
  • Successful candidates are expected to be available to work 24-40 hours per week
  • Working hours may be longer during event weeks
  • The exact working schedule will be determined once the successful candidate is selected
  • Successful candidates must have the ability to work long hours during special event operations
  • Event hours may occur outside of normal business hours, including nights, weekends and holidays
Supervisory Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have no formal supervisory duties, but may direct the work of other seasonal employees and/or volunteers.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Communicate daily, in a timely and professional manner, with staff, entertainers, participants and the public
  • Detail oriented tracking of entertainer/participant travel needs, hospitality requirements and ticket requests
  • Provide support for stage managers including materials and scheduling
  • Provide general administrative support including, but not limited to: mailings, record maintenance, phone and e‑mail communication/responses
  • Assist in setting up for the Dublin Irish Festival including moving boxes, tables and other equipment
  • Successful candidates may drive a variety of vehicles from golf carts to vans to pick up and deliver materials
  • During events, ability to troubleshoot assigned area(s) to deal with any issues on site
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Availability to work July 4 & July 31-August 2
  • Ability to read simple maps
  • Organized, self‑motivated and able to work independently and as a team
  • Ability to manage time while working on multiple projects at once, with various deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Previous experience in events, signage, beverage management or hospitality‑related work preferred
  • Previous experience with clerical, typing or office‑related work preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform light lifting, moving, setup and breakdown tasks at special event sites
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move objects weighing 20-30 lbs.
  • Ability to work long hours during special event operations including events outside of normal business hours
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions
  • Ability to use computers for sustained data input and processing
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment
Other Requirements
  • Regular attendance, as governed by and in accordance with applicable rules, regulations, procedures and laws, is regarded as an essential requirement of this classification
