Substitute Instructional Paraprofessional (Employed by the ESCCO)

Qualifications- Good human relations with an ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
- A high school diploma or training and experience that are considered equivalent.
- In response to the federal legislation known as No Child Left Behind, ONE of the following requirements is needed for compliance:
- Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as 48 semester or 72 quarter hours as verified by college transcript from an accredited institution of higher education); OR
- Obtain an associate (or higher) degree from an accredited institution of higher education;
- Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment -- (i) knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or (ii) knowledge of, and the ability to assist in readiness for reading, writing, and mathematics.
- A neat appearance.
- Experience working with children preferred.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
Building Principal
Performance Responsibilities- Assist students in completing classroom activities assigned by the Intervention Specialist.
- Assist the Intervention Specialist in routine classroom and school activities, implementation of IEP services, behavior plans, student assessment, playground and lunch duty.
- Assist in preparing classroom materials, displays, and individual student accommodations and modifications.
- Assist Special Education students in regular education classes, including attending class with the student and providing supports as needed or indicated on IEP.
- Help maintain a positive learning environment, including classroom management.
- Assist students with personal health care needs such as toileting, personal hygiene, and use of adaptive equipment.
- Participate in professional growth activities.
- Ensure the safety of students.
- Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.
- Exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Terms of Employment: Substitute
Salary: $16.50/hour
