Electrical Power and Transmission Engineer – Columbus Area (Semi-Remote)

Our office in Dublin, Ohio is looking for an Electrical Engineer to provide technical services to utility clients for their design projects and technical support requirements, providing limited technical and administrative direction. Specifically, we need someone to design substations for utility power delivery projects in the transmission and distribution space. This position is based in our Dublin office and will have a hybrid schedule with some days in the office and some working remotely.
Responsibilities- Perform required work activities on an individual basis or within a project team with limited need for supervision.
- Identify and initiate solutions to problems requiring single discipline involvement and single discipline analytical tools.
- Apply engineering aptitudes at the working level to assure compliance to the customer’s and Salas O’Brien’s quality and consistency expectations.
- Assist in planning and schedule of project activities.
- Provide inputs needed to establish project estimates.
- Begin to establish industry ties at the technical, professional and regulatory level.
- Participate in on‑site systems and facilities inspections for customers.
- Review design output and analyses.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned or deemed appropriate of the position by management.
- Guide the work of Designers on the project team.
- Review and check the work of others on the project team.
- Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in electrical engineering
- 2+ years of experience in electrical design
- Specific experience in utility substation design
- Experience with medium voltage (typically 138kV and below) utility scale power distribution and low voltage industrial scale power distribution
