Step into Your New RoleKleinfelder is looking for a Station Engineer to join the Columbus, OH office (Hybrid). The Station Engineer develops broad knowledge and skills in station and facility projects, evaluates and selects engineering techniques, and performs tasks for conventional projects with minimal complexity. The role may involve station and plant design, client collaboration, cost estimating, field measurements, construction support, and subcontractor management.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare designs, calculations, drawings, layouts, and studies from field inspections, preliminary sketches, specifications, and instructions.
- Review designs and documentation to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and design criteria.
- Acquire and analyze data using appropriate quantitative methods.
- Conduct field visits to facilities to gather on‑site information relevant to the scope.
- Perform gas system network and hydraulic analysis.
- Understand and utilize station maintenance practices.
- Operate gas metering, regulation, and SCADA systems.
- Prepare construction specifications and bid packages.
- Use calculators and software to size equipment based on flow parameters.
- Conduct station design and material selection.
- Create feasibility studies.
- Develop status reports with task completion, progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Oversee field testing of newly installed facilities.
- Utilize modeling software for pipe stress analysis and generate reports.
- Work closely with other work groups at client locations and KLF offices.
- Facilitate design review meetings with key stakeholders.
- Coordinate various inspection and testing methods, gather data, analyze, and report findings.
- Demonstrate sound engineering judgment.
- Assign tasks to, and coordinate with, drafting and administrative staff.
- Provide guidance, instruction, and coaching to entry‑level team members.
- Assist in determining schedule and budget requirements.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Civil, or related Engineering.
- 3–6 years of relevant experience.
- Technical communication skills.
- Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to perform and manage moderate design tasks.
- Preparation of project documents segment.
- Research and investigation abilities.
- Project management: manage multiple projects, prioritization, time management, and delegation.
- Evaluation of methodologies, best practices, tools, and processes.
- Process improvement suggestions and knowledge resource for team members.
- Engineer‑In‑Training certification (desired).
- Working knowledge of CAD and GIS software (desired).
