Role OverviewWe are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Portfolio Manager to support the day-to-day management of fixed income portfolios for a diverse client base. This role will assist portfolio managers with trade execution, market analysis, portfolio monitoring, and strategy implementation. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, a detail-oriented mindset, and a collaborative spirit to help meet client objectives and support the broader investment team.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Support the management and trading of short-duration fixed income portfolios, including U.S. Treasuries, agencies, investment-grade corporates, municipals, securitized products, CDs, and money market instruments.
- Assist in ensuring portfolios are managed consistently across accounts, aligning with target allocations and individual client guidelines.
- Help maintain Broker-Dealer relationships and contribute to the execution of trades with a focus on market coverage and pricing efficiency.
- Conduct research and analysis of fixed income sectors and individual securities, with attention to macroeconomic factors, interest rate outlooks, and sector fundamentals.
- Provide analytical and operational support to senior portfolio managers and collaborate with client service and business development teams to deliver customized portfolio solutions.
- Participate in the development and implementation of fixed income strategies across LGIPs, Money Market Funds, and Separately Managed Accounts.
- Contribute to internal reporting, market commentary, investment memos, and credit reviews as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in asset management, trading, or fixed income research is a plus.
- Strong financial and credit analysis skills relevant to fixed income securities and portfolio support functions.
- Familiarity with key economic indicators and interest rate dynamics impacting fixed income markets.
- Proficiency with financial tools such as Bloomberg, Excel, and other research platforms.
- Experience with portfolio management systems (e.g., Bloomberg, Market Axess).
- Progress towards or possession of a professional designation such as CFA, CMT, or an advanced degree (e.g., MBA).
- Strong interest in fixed income investing and a commitment to fiduciary excellence.
- Solid foundational knowledge of financial markets, economic drivers, and fixed income instruments.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to support multiple portfolios and team members effectively.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment within a growing investment firm.
- High integrity, professional ethics, and a desire for continuous learning and development.
