Hand Therapist

Position Overview

Team members are licensed or certified professional Occupational Therapists or Certified Hand Therapists who work within a specific team structure to offer outpatient upper extremity rehabilitation services. They evaluate and treat patients with orthopedic upper extremity disorders, burns, and amputations, under the general supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation Services and direct supervision of the clinic manager.

• Evaluate and treat patients in accordance with state laws and professional rules.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of physical therapists, speech‑language pathologists, and social workers to develop and implement care plans.
• Provide education and support to patients and families.
• Supervise students, recreation specialists, and other personnel involved in patient care.
• Participate in quality improvement and outcomes‑management activities.
• Support clinical education as part of an academic medical center.

• Master's degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy.
• Bachelor's level degree from an accredited institution.
• Licensed and/or certified with the respective profession, cleared through the National Database of Practitioners.
• Two years of experience working in a medical setting preferred.
• Occupational Therapists hired after August 2010 must attain and maintain hand certification within 24 months of eligibility.

• Successful completion of a background check; a drug screen or physical exam may be required during the post‑offer process.
