Scope of Position
The outpatient service centers include phlebotomy draw stations located at Ross Heart Hospital, Martha Morehouse Pavilion, Outpatient Care Dublin, Outpatient Care Lewis Center, Outpatient Care Gahanna, Outpatient Care Upper Arlington, Outpatient Care New Albany, and Hilliard. These centers provide specimen collection, specimen processing, and point of care testing services within the Department of Clinical Laboratories. The centers are staffed Monday through Friday 7:00 am–5:30 pm, with Saturday mornings at some locations to accommodate operational needs.
PositionSummary
The patient service technician (PST) performs specimen collection by venipuncture and capillary puncture, specimen labeling, and specimen processing. The PST verifies accuracy and quality of specimens collected, dispatches specimens to appropriate testing locations, and trains others in these techniques. Other duties include test requisition entry, greeting and directing patients, collecting complete patient information for registration and accessioning, performing point of care testing, ensuring accuracy of results and quality control, maintaining equipment and instruments, and following chain‑of‑custody record‑keeping for pre‑employment urine drug screen collections.
Minimum Qualifications- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Certified phlebotomist preferred.
- EKG training through an accredited organization preferred.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post‑offer process.
