Patient Service Representative

Description We are looking for a Patient Service Representative to support individuals seeking behavioral health services in Dublin, Ohio. In this contract role with potential for a permanent position, you will guide new patients through insurance coverage details, out-of-pocket costs, and self-pay responsibilities with empathy and clarity. This position is ideal for someone who understands healthcare billing and benefits and can translate complex financial information into a reassuring patient experience.

Responsibilities:

- Guide new patients through benefit details related to mental health services, helping them understand expected coverage and potential costs.

- Review insurance information to confirm active coverage, network participation, and plan eligibility before services begin.

- Explain key financial terms such as deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, out-of-pocket limits, and patient responsibility in plain language.

- Support self-pay patients by discussing charges, payment expectations, and available financial options with professionalism and sensitivity.

- Use payer portals, online tools, and direct insurer communication to gather accurate benefit and eligibility information.

- Address billing and coverage questions by researching accounts thoroughly and escalating more complex issues when necessary.

- Maintain complete and accurate records of patient conversations, benefit findings, and account updates in accordance with established procedures.

- Deliver compassionate service during sensitive financial discussions while safeguarding patient confidentiality and following HIPAA standards. Requirements - At least 2 years of experience in patient services, insurance verification, medical billing, or a related healthcare support role.

- Working knowledge of health insurance plans, benefit structures, and patient financial responsibility concepts.

- Ability to communicate billing and insurance information clearly to patients with varying levels of understanding.

- Experience using insurance websites, payer portals, or phone-based verification methods to confirm coverage details.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle patient concerns calmly, respectfully, and professionally.

- Familiarity with HIPAA requirements and best practices for protecting patient privacy.

- Strong documentation, organization, and follow-up skills in a fast-paced patient-facing environment. Talent Match®
