Position SummaryResponsible for performing Human Resources (HR) related duties on a professional level and working closely with the VP of HR, management, and employees. Provides support for the HR Department with confidentiality and discretion. Carries out and assists with responsibilities in a vast variety of areas within the HR department. This position acts as a back-up to the VP of HR.
Essential Job Functions- Manage ADP timekeeping system and payroll processing; ensure data in the payroll system is accurate and up-to-date and maintain all other HR-related systems
- Recruit and assist with selecting quality applicants by reviewing applications, screening applicants, scheduling and conducting face-to-face interviews, and following up with candidates
- Post open positions on various organizational outreach websites to support the Affirmative Action Plan (AAP)
- Provide high level of customer service and act as the main point of contact for employees and managers on all benefits-related questions
- Administer employee benefit and insurance programs including but not limited to: benefits communications, enrollments, broker communications, monthly invoice reconciliation, ACA compliance with workforce analytics and reporting, and annual benefits open enrollment
- Point of contact for all Leaves of Absence (LOAs): interpret and ensure adherence to FMLA guidelines; assist employees with LOA process, questions, and next steps
- Assist with orientation of new employees and new hire setup
- Conduct exit interviews, analyze data, and make recommendations for continuous improvement
- Improve manager and employee performance by identifying problems and evaluating solutions such as employee relations, FMLA cases, job descriptions, and performance plans
- Coordinate and investigate employee relations issues and apply applicable policies and procedures
- Conduct job analysis of new and existing positions; evaluate questionnaires and facilitate job evaluation
- Responsible for reporting, monitoring, and maintenance of BMI FCU’s Affirmative Action Plan
- Participate in and support BMI FCU’s wellness and employee engagement committees
- Assist in developing and implementing personnel policies and procedures
- Educate employees and managers about personnel policies, procedures, and HR initiatives
- Maintain personnel files
- Stay abreast of HR trends and Credit Union issues; pursue professional development opportunities
- Keep the VP of Human Resources informed
Office environment. Some travel required to other branch locations.
Qualifications and Skills- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Resources; a viable combination of experience and education will be considered
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
- Proven problem solving and decision-making skills
- Current knowledge of HR areas including federal and state employment laws, FLSA, ACA, ADA, FMLA, EEO, etc.
- Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now preferred
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Ability to work effectively with others at all levels across the organization
- Ability to develop, analyze, and interpret HR-related data
