Overview

Role:
Sr. Network Engineer

Location:

Columbus, OH (Must reside in Ohio)
Travel: 25% on‑site support required; approximately one trip per month
Duration:
Temp to Hire
FTE Salary: $100,000+ (or $45–60/hr for contract)

Responsibilities
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain network solutions that support global IT services.
  • Gather requirements, design, and deploy network solutions aligned with business goals.
  • Maintain existing network environments through proactive monitoring and problem resolution.
  • Respond to client requests for problem resolution and process service requests.
  • Keep working knowledge of network hardware, operating systems, device configuration, carrier interfaces, and network management/troubleshooting tools.
  • Define solutions that balance network requirements and standards with business needs.
  • Investigate and resolve network incidents; recommend enhancements to improve security.
  • Participate in or lead multiple large, highly visible projects concurrently.
  • Apply comprehensive technical knowledge to perform varied tasks and projects.
  • Engage vendors, team members, and other technology groups to deliver solutions on schedule.
  • Work on projects of varying complexity in a high‑volume environment.
  • Complete work collaboratively (standards, incident resolution) and independently as needed.
  • Align with internal and external customers to anticipate needs during assessments and enhancements.
  • Document implementation steps and deploy technologies.
  • Identify and resolve technical and other factors that delay project initiatives.
  • Configure, implement, and troubleshoot technologies across teams.
  • Resolve complex network issues, collaborating across teams.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of network architecture and engineering experience, including complex design and hands‑on implementation of LAN/WAN devices.
  • Valid network industry certifications (CCNA/CCNP, F5 System Engineer, Aruba Wireless, Palo Alto, or equivalent).
  • In‑depth knowledge of Cisco, Aruba, HP switches, Palo Alto firewalls, and Aruba wireless.
  • Proficiency with OSPF and BGP routing protocols.
  • Knowledge of MPLS and installing MPLS circuits.
  • Experience with IP address management and DHCP using Infoblox or a similar toolset.
  • Additional skills that are a plus:
    Infoblox Network Automation (NetMRI), Network Instruments Gigastor, Gigamon Visibility Node, Cisco OTV, Nexus Virtual Device Context, Virtual Port Channel technologies.
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience (8+ years in the field is preferred).
  • Applicable technical certifications preferred.
