Job Description & How to Apply Below

Bressman Law is a boutique Ohio personal injury firm that combines over 30 years of trial-tested experience with the personal attention of a family-run practice. From our offices serving Columbus, Dublin, and communities throughout all 88 Ohio counties, we help seriously injured clients rebuild their lives after car, truck, motorcycle, wrongful death, and other negligence cases. The attorney you would be assisting specializes in toxic exposure cases with cases across the country.

Our lawyers are active litigators with a strong track record in the courtroom, which means insurers know we are prepared to take a case to trial when a fair settlement is not offered. We are proud of the trust our clients place in us and the results we have secured for Ohio families, including significant recoveries in complex motor vehicle and catastrophic injury cases.

As a small, collaborative team, we value litigation paralegals as key partners in case strategy, discovery, and trial preparation, and we offer the opportunity to work closely with experienced attorneys on meaningful cases that have a real impact on injured people and their families.

Role Description

As our litigation paralegal, you will be the strategic right hand to a community safety trial lawyer known his willingness to take on complex cases other firms turn down. You will plug directly into high-stakes personal injury and community safety litigation involving significant toxic exposures, catastrophic industrial injuries, serious motor vehicle crashes, and wrongful death, helping build cases that hold corporations and non-complying employers accountable when they put profits over people.

In this role, you will support the full life cycle of litigation which includes:

  • Client Communication
  • Drafting and assisting with discovery responses
  • Preparing trial exhibits and notebooks
  • Preparing Jury Instructions
  • Assisting with Trial Preparation

So, our attorney can focus on advocacy in depositions, negotiations, and  will work closely with a small, family-run team that values initiative , precision, and a relentless pursuit of justice; your ability to anticipate needs, manage deadlines, and keep the case “war room” organized will directly impact our clients’ outcomes and Jedidiah’s effectiveness in court. This is an opportunity for a litigation paralegal who wants more than routine files—someone who wants to help a passionate trial lawyer fight for injured workers and families and see the tangible results of their work in life-changing verdicts and settlements.

Qualifications
  • 3–5+ years of civil litigation experience, ideally on the plaintiff side in personal injury or catastrophic injury cases, with hands‑on involvement from intake through trial or settlement.
  • Solid knowledge of Ohio and federal civil procedure, including experience drafting and filing pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and basic motions.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, high‑volume case files: organizing medical and employment records, tracking deadlines and statutes of limitation, and maintaining accurate case management systems.
  • Comfort working on serious injury matters (e.g., industrial accidents, toxic exposure, wrongful death) and synthesizing large amounts of technical and medical information into clear summaries.
  • Exceptional client service skills, with the ability to communicate empathetically with injured clients and families while maintaining professionalism in dealings with experts, defense counsel, and court staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing demand packages, discovery summaries, deposition outlines, and trial notebooks.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and time management, with a track record of meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced litigation environment.
  • Proficiency with law practice management and document management software, Microsoft Office, and e‑filing systems used in Ohio courts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative trial team, taking initiative and anticipating attorney and case needs without constant supervision.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, confidentiality, and the supervision standards for paralegals in Ohio; OSBA or national paralegal certification (or willingness to obtain it) is a plus.
