Overview

Position Summary...

What you'll do

Leads and develops teams effectively by teaching, training, and actively listening to associates; touring stores and providing feedback. Tour-to-Teach: communicating and collaborating with all levels of associates regarding store operations, utilizing technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction. Introduce and lead company change efforts, provide clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions, and communicate business objectives to teams. Model and demonstrate exceptional customer service standards to store associates by following the One Best Way (OBW) service model, managing and supporting customer service initiatives, and ensuring customer needs, complaints, and issues are resolved.

Develop and implement action plans to correct deficiencies and provide process improvement leadership to ensure a high‑quality customer experience.

Financial & Operations Leadership

Drive the financial performance and sales of the designated store area by reviewing and evaluating P&L statements, budgeting, forecasting, and controlling expenses. Ensure indexing to sales, monitor and improve merchandise presentation, seasonal transitions, inventory flow, and operational processes. Develop and implement action plans to mitigate shrink and achieve sales and profit goals for the business area.

People & Talent Development

Provide supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates by hiring, training, and mentoring; assigning duties; setting clear expectations; recognizing associates; and developing qualified talent to meet staffing needs and growth potential. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and promote accountability, continuous learning, and adaptability. Create a culture of belonging by supporting a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Compliance & Culture

Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, support the mission, values, ethics, and integrity standards, and implement related action plans. Uphold the Open Door Policy, applying it to business processes and practices, and act with integrity and accountability in all interactions. Promote Walmart values to foster a regenerative company by benefiting associates, customers, and communities.

Customer Focus

Serve customers and members by delivering results while putting the customer first. Make decisions based on data insights, balancing short- and long-term priorities and considering customers, associates, shareholders, suppliers, business partners, and communities.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2 years of college; OR 1 year of retail experience and 1 year of supervisory experience; OR 2 years of general work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • For facilities that sell firearms: successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check and Firearms Authorized Training.
  • For facilities that sell only ammunition and have state-specific requirements: current state-issued Certificate of Eligibility may be required.
  • Associates must attend and complete all job-required trainings and assessments (e.g., Academy trainings, Open Door trainings).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University;
    Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University; experience supervising 5+ direct reports including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.
