The Grocery Clerk is responsible for keeping all store grocery shelves stocked and clean during business hours, assisting customers as needed, and maintaining a friendly, energetic demeanor. This position requires adherence to all procedural guidelines set by the Grocery Department.

Currently looking for Sunday Only Availability.

• Ensure cleanliness of grocery shelves, storage area, and work area for safety, including cleaning of shelves and products, keeping floors free of liquid spills or water, removing hazardous debris from floor and sweeping.
• Stock grocery shelves; include presentation, facing, filling, organization, and ensuring tag and pricing accuracy.
• Examine rotation of all grocery products, paying particular attention to expired stock and discarding outdated or spoiled items.
• Respond positively to customer inquiries and assist customers with purchases, information, and product selection; require selling and cross‑selling.
• Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality.
• Monitor point‑of‑purchase signs; ensure variety of recipe cards, product coupons, promotional material, and information on complimentary foods.
• Operate and use equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
• Use knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products.
• Cut and stack cases for building displays and price and mark merchandise.
• Participate in pre‑inventory preparation; include back stock and ensuring tags match products.
• Sustain a high level of product knowledge and product preparation.
• Walk department regularly to ensure organized, sanitary, and overall clean appearance at all times.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalency degree.
• Preferred 1–2 years grocery retail experience in grocery department processes and procedures.
• Previous experience in a natural foods industry is a plus.

• Maintain the highest level of customer service at all times.
• Adapt to the ever‑changing high‑volume retail while working in a cross‑functional team environment.
• Take initiative when problems arise.
• Flexibility to adapt in a variety of situations.
• Advanced attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills for dealing cross‑functionally with peers and senior management.

• Familiar with Health Department guidelines and regulations in a grocery retail environment.

• Understand proper handling, preparation, seasonality, and appropriate shelf life of products.

Compensation starts between $14.50 and $16.00 per hour, with raises in accordance with the Fresh Thyme Market plan policy. The actual rate offered will meet or surpass the legal wage requirement for the position’s location.
