- Receive service calls from the Service Resource Center, including a brief description of equipment/system malfunctions.
- Contact customer representatives to ascertain equipment/systems problems.
- Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and related building system products at customer sites.
- Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, component manuals, change notices, bulletins, modification notices, etc., to repair equipment.
- Service, troubleshoot, and install a variety of manufacturers’ Fire & Life Safety systems including Simplex/Grinnell.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems, programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills by consistently communicating with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Complete Service Acknowledgements with proper coding through communication devices such as smartphones and laptops.
- Obtain customer signature upon completion of service call assignment.
- Participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation.
- Help train or mentor others on the service team.
- Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service‑related items.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Troubleshoot and repair installed systems, including panel repair/reprogramming, device replacement/repair, resolving low‑voltage circuit troubles, and system testing.
- Organize and effectively utilize technical resources, information, material, and support to assure efficient execution of all assigned tasks.
- Program fire alarm, security, and access control system panels.
- Exhibit strong written and verbal communication and outstanding customer service skills.
- Complete and submit all required task‑related, activity, productivity, and other documentation in a timely manner.
- Respond to on‑call and after‑hours work requirements as needed at customer sites.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure facilities run efficiently, including upselling opportunities and quoting for recommendations.
- At least 3 years of experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound, and communications systems.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
- Good working knowledge of computers.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Capacity for physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing 50–70 lbs.
- Comfortable working in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, high lifts up to 40 ft., working within ducts, crawl spaces, and above ceilings.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet customer requirements.
- Potential overnight travel may be required.
- Strong customer‑service orientation.
- Maintain timely truck inventory to support customer response.
- Adherence to, implementation of, and following safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
- Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
- Valid driver’s license with driving record meeting company requirements.
- Retention of any licenses required by National, State, and Local codes.
- Technical training and NICET II certification.
