The City of Dublin is hiring a 1st shift Maintenance Worker for the GoDublin crew in the Division of Public Service. Successful candidates must be available to work Monday — Friday, 7am — 3pm, as well as nights, weekends and holidays as needed.
Per the USW collective bargaining agreement, preference will be given to qualified bargaining unit employees.
Primary FocusWorking alone or as part of a crew, this position performs a wide range of unskilled and semiskilled maintenance and repair tasks utilizing specialized hand tools, various types of motorized vehicles, and specialized mechanical and electronic equipment. Activities performed require working outside in all weather conditions, performing light to heavy manual labor and maintenance work.

Given the nature of this classification’s duties/responsibilities, it has been designated as Non‑Exempt under the governing Fair Labor Standards Act regulations and, therefore, is entitled to formal overtime compensation and/or formal compensatory time.
Essential Functions- Operate a variety of motorized vehicles and specialized mechanical and/or electronic equipment (e.g., Dump truck with snowplow and salt spreading attachments, backhoe, front end loader, chain saw, chipper/leaf machine, jack hammer, street sweeper, vac truck, post driver, mowers, skid steer loader or other equivalent types of equipment based on the functions necessary to perform specific job duties).
- Utilize a variety of hand tools (e.g., Shovel, pick, axe, sledgehammer, paint sprayer, handsaw, air wrench, welder or other equivalent types of hand tools).
- Utilize computer software to complete work orders, maintain routine records and complete specialized assignments using job‑specific software.
- Maintain equipment and ensure equipment is in good operating order. Conduct inventory of supplies and material and inform supervisor of any supply needs.
- Perform a variety of tasks related to special events including traffic control, set‑up and tear down, placing signs within right‑of‑way, and solid waste management.
- Ensure proper utilization of safety precautions, including proper barricades and traffic control devices, and calling in Ohio Utilities Protection Service (OUPS) tickets when necessary.
- Must continuously and consistently demonstrate the initiative and responsibility to work in an efficient and productive manner with or without direct supervision.
- Solid waste management related to tasks such as refuse, recycling, chipper and leaf collection.
- Road, concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk repair or replacement work.
- Traffic control.
- Right‑of‑way maintenance.
- Maintain grounds: cutting grass, trimming, seeding, irrigation repair, fence repair, trash and litter removal, and other professional grounds maintenance landscape tasks.
- Maintain athletic fields/courts.
- Prepare graves for burial and participate in headstone placement preparation.
- Plan, organize, and perform traffic and street sign fabrication, construction, installation and repair tasks.
- Assist Electrical Team by delivering equipment, setting up proper work zones, and maintaining job sites.
- High School degree or GED equivalent supplemented with experience in construction and maintenance work, including the operation of motorized, mechanical, and electronic equipment. Experience preferred in grounds maintenance, routine maintenance methods, construction, and/or building trades experience, construction and/or sewer maintenance work.
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, and equipment used in construction and maintenance work.
- Knowledge of the safe and correct use of hand and power tools and equipment common to the maintenance and repair work.
