The City of Dublin is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker position on the Utilities/Sewer Crew within the Division of Engineering. Successful candidates must be available to work 1st shift, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and be available to work, days, nights, weekends and holidays, as needed. This position is open to current members of the United Steel Workers (USW) bargaining unit as well as internal and external applicants.

If this position is filled internally by a bargaining unit member, the wage rate will be determined in accordance with the contract. The targeted starting wage for this position is $25.80 per hour.

Primary Focus:
Responsible for sewer/utility monitoring, inspection, cleaning, and replacement of sewer lines; performs maintenance and repair of work distribution lines; monitors, cleans, and repairs wastewater pump stations and related facilities; assist with fire hydrant maintenance, repair, and replacement activities. Activities performed require working outdoors in all weather conditions, performing light to heavy manual labor and maintenance work. Incumbent must model the following established core values:

Given the nature of this classification's duties/responsibilities, it has been designated as Non-Exempt under the governing Fair Labor Standards Act regulations and, therefore, is entitled to formal overtime compensation and/or formal compensatory time.

Examples of Duties:

Essential Functions:

Operates a variety of motorized vehicles and specialized mechanical and/or electronic equipment (e.g., dump truck with snow plow and salt spreading attachments, backhoe, front end loader, chain saw, chipper/leaf machine, jackhammer, sewer video camera, vac truck, post driver, mowers, skid steer loader, or other equivalent types of equipment) based on the functions necessary to perform specific job duties. Utilizes a variety of hand tools (e.g., shovel, pick, axe, sledge hammer, paint sprayer, handsaw, air wrench, welder, or other equivalent types of hand tools) based on the functions necessary to perform specific job duties.

Utilizes computer software to complete work orders, maintains routine records, and completes specialized assignments by using job-specific software. Maintains equipment and ensures equipment is in good operating order. Conducts inventory of supplies and material and informs supervisor of any supply needs. Performs a variety of tasks relating to special events including traffic control, set-up and tear down, placing signs within the right-of-way, and solid waste management;

performs solid waste management related to tasks such as refuse, recycling, chipper, and leaf collection; performs road repair work and right-of-way maintenance. Ensures proper utilization of safety precautions including proper barricades and traffic control devices, as well as calling in Ohio Utilities Protection Service (OUPS) tickets when necessary. Must continuously and consistently demonstrate the initiative and responsibility to work in an efficient and productive manner with or without direct supervision.

Engineering Specialized Functions:

Minimum Qualifications:

High School degree or GED equivalent supplemented with experience in construction and maintenance work, including the operation of motorized, mechanical, and electronic equipment. Sewer maintenance work experience preferred. Knowledge and experience with closed caption televising (CCTV) equipment and practices, combination sewer jet and vacuum trucks, and fire hydrant maintenance and replacement. Knowledge and experience with work zone set-ups, traffic control & flagging processes, and completion of load securement training.
