- Review case instructions and document model or articulation requirements in the laboratory management software
- Evaluate incoming impressions and bite registrations for accuracy and stability, and flag concerns to a lead or supervisor before proceeding
- Pour impressions and trim stone models, preserving all anatomical landmarks
- Mount and articulate cases according to doctor instructions to ensure proper occlusion and function
- Perform repairs and relines on existing prosthetics, restoring them to functional standards
- Coordinate model-area workflow so cases move to the next stage in time to meet laboratory deadlines
- Keep articulators, model trimmers, and vibrators clean and calibrated as applicable
- Keep gypsum materials stocked and stored correctly
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation to prevent cross-contamination and model mix-ups
- Follow all lab safety, infection control, and quality assurance procedures
- Serve as a backup for other positions within the department as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required
- High school diploma or GED
- Manual dexterity and technical precision, with the ability to perform detailed fine-motor tasks consistently
Preferred
- 1+ years of dental laboratory experience, ideally in removable prosthetics
- Working knowledge of dental anatomy and articulation systems
- No prior dental laboratory experience is required; DPS provides on-the-job training.
- Demonstrates a “right the first time” mentality, understanding that the quality of the model dictates the quality of the final prosthesis
- Receptive to technical feedback from senior technicians and adaptable to individual doctor preferences for mounting and articulation
- Manages the timing of multiple cases through pouring, and setting, without sacrificing accuracy
- Communicates clearly and promptly with leads and teammates about case status and concerns
- Stand at a workbench for extended periods and sit at a workbench periodically
- Perform repetitive, precise fine-motor tasks using small hand tools and instruments
- Close visual acuity for detailed work
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds often
