POSITION TITLE: Special Education Return & Regulate Interventionist
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors Degree in Education or related field such as Psychology or Social Work preferred, with the minimum of a high school diploma. Previous experience working with students preferred.

SCOPE OF POSITION:
This position will provide skill and therapeutic based interventions to address needs of students in the educational setting. The R & R staff will provide intervention for students with significant social, emotional, and/or behavioral needs. Primary duties include implementing individual behavior plans, working in collaboration with the special education teacher and other staff to assist with the delivery of specialized instruction, skill instruction and data collection.
Knowledge,Skills, Abilities
- Knowledge of appropriate behavioral interventionist strategies and positive behavior supports.
- An awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
- Knowledge of technology support related to effective data collection.
- Skill in effectively assessing environmental variables that influence behavior.
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification in QBS‑approved crisis management and physical intervention training.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with students, families, and school personnel.
- Ability to effectively communicate with educational stakeholders.
- Ability to perform general clerical duties, including maintaining accurate records and preparing education reports.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms with all students and adults.
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification in Life Space Crisis Intervention training.
- Participate in the assessment of students' behavior through interview, observations, consultations, and communication with various school personnel.
- Work as a collaborative team with other school staff members to develop appropriate and positive behavioral interventions.
- Assist and support in providing instruction to behaviorally challenged individual students or small groups of students; reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher.
- Assist students in modeling appropriate skills and behaviors.
- Assist in the implementation of de‑escalation and crisis intervention.
- Commit to maintaining a climate that fosters a safe and caring environment and connection to school.
- Utilize skills in problem solving and assessment for intervention to support teachers in meeting the social/emotional and instructional needs of all students.
- Assist students in gaining and utilizing skills necessary to participate in school, including academic and social/emotional supports.
- Supervise students to ensure a safe, non‑threatening, and nurturing environment.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures; report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or human resources.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
196 Total Contract - 188 working days contract (plus 8 paid holidays) Approx. contract start date: 8/19
$40,633 per year, paid monthly
