Position Summary
The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University that is seeking a First-Year Academic Advisor/Academic Success Coach

The First-Year Academic Advisor/Academic Success Coach supports the transition and success of first-year students through proactive, student-centered advising and coaching. Working with the Director of Advising, this role helps students understand degree requirements, assists with course registration, and monitors academic progress.
The advisor provides targeted support for students on academic probation, offers one-on-one coaching on study skills and time management, and helps maintain accurate academic standing records.
- Work with the Director of Advising educating and empower UD first-year students regarding their individual degree and program requirements. This may be done through individual meetings and/or workshops
- Assist with the scheduling and registration of first-year students
- Track the academic progress of assigned first-year advisees
- Conduct intakes on all students placed on academic probation (AP) and monitor their academic progress throughout the semester
- Provide one-on-one academic counseling regarding topics such as time management, study skills (test-taking, note-taking, listening, etc.)
- Help create and verify academic standing lists at the end of each semester: academic suspensions, academic probation, academic alert, and return to good standing
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University’s Mission
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Flexibility to handle unexpected situations
- Ability to produce accurate reports
- Excellent listening and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively and comfortably with diverse populations
- Ability to handle confidential issues with integrity
- Undergraduate Degree Required;
Graduate Degree Preferred - At least one year of higher education experience preferred
