Job Description

Requires paraprofessional certification, associate or bachelor degree.

Current Rate: $16.85 per hour, plus $0.15 per hour for certification = $17.00.

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma
  • Keyboarding skills
  • Successful completion of or willingness to successfully complete training on best practices in supporting the social‑emotional/mental health needs of students
  • Successful completion of or willingness to successfully complete training in instructional support
  • Physical and emotional stamina to meet daily student care needs
Desirable Qualifications
  • Post high school coursework
  • Experience working with children

Basic Function:
This person will be working with students, teachers and other building staff members to assist in the delivery of the educational program.

Responsibilities
  • The paraprofessional hired must be able to:
  • Model to students and peers a commitment to appropriate public behavior toward all students, workplace, colleagues and the public
  • Demonstrate professionalism in the workplace and in the community
  • Communicate clearly and appropriately with students and staff
  • Work effectively and cooperatively with others
  • Provide effective and systematic supervision of students
  • Follow directions of supervising teacher and building administrator(s)
  • Provide input and feedback to supervising teacher as requested
  • Exercise maturity and sound judgment in making decisions
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Assist teacher in computer entry of data and the application of technology
  • Maintain effective discipline based on the policies and guidelines of the District
  • Support guided practice or monitor educational program as directed
  • Provide services as outlined in students' individualized education programs
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Meet the daily care student needs, including, but not limited to, lifting, repositioning, diapering, toileting, etc.
  • Engage in professional learning required for job assignment
  • Demonstrate a willingness to participate in staff development
  • Experience and/or desire working with diverse groups of students
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Other Requirements
  • Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to move independently about the building, and position oneself appropriately based on the situation, as required of position
  • Adhere to workdays/hours outlined in letter of assignment
  • Report to location outlined in letter of assignment
  • Follow expectations in handbook, including attendance
