The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University thatis seeking a Full-time Faculty in Engineering .

Position Summary:

This is a unique opportunity for a founding full-time Engineeringfaculty member to help build and shape a growing program from theground up. The successful candidate will play a central role in designing and delivering core undergraduate courses - such asdesign, physics, statics, dynamics, electronics, materials, and thermodynamics - while driving innovation in curriculum, labs, and student experiences. We are seeking an educator who brings energy,creativity, and a passion for mentoring students, and who isexcited to develop a forward-looking program aligned with modern engineering practice and industry needs.

We are especially interested in candidates who are enthusiasticbuilders - educators who bring fresh ideas, a collaborative spirit,and a desire to create meaningful, hands-on learning experiences for students.

Mission

Engage fully with the University's mission through excellence in teaching and advising, ongoing scholarship and professional development, and active service to the campus and broader community

Teaching and Advising
  • Maintain a full-time credit load of 24 credit hours per academic year, in collaboration with the department and the Officeof the Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA)
  • Participate in regular assessment and evaluation to foster continued pedagogical growth
  • Design and deliver engaging, student-centered learning experiences that inspire curiosity and deepen understanding.

    Leverage innovative and evidence-based teaching practices tosupport diverse learners and evolving educational technologies
  • Advance entrepreneurial-minded learning by inspiring students to think creatively, take initiative, and apply engineeringsolutions to real-world challenges
  • Be an active and present member of the campus community by supporting students outside of the classroom during regularly scheduled office hours and mentor and support students as developing engineers through advising, research opportunities,internships, and experiential learning
Scholarship and Professional Development
  • Pursue an active scholarly or creative agenda appropriate tothe discipline and share outcomes through publications,presentations, exhibitions, or performances
  • Build and maintain a professional portfolio for advancement inrank and tenure
  • Participate in campus professional development opportunities
  • Maintain awareness of evolving disciplinary standards and best practices through ongoing professional development and engagement with the broader engineering community
Service
  • Serve as a key contributor in developing and shaping the program's curriculum, courses, laboratories, and facilities as partof its ongoing growth and success
  • Participate in and contribute to all department meetings,faculty meetings, convocations, and commencements
  • Serve on and contribute to academic and/or University-wide committees
  • Assist in student recruitment and retention activities throughout the academic year
  • Represent the University in professional associations,conferences, or community partnerships related to the faculty member's field
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the VPAA's office or department head in support of the University's Mission

  • Provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments and maintain an active gradebook
  • Adapt to changes in the educational landscape, such as new technologies and educational standards
  • Practice professional and collegial behavior, cultural competency, and inclusive approaches in all circumstances
Qualifications
  • Graduate degree Required;
    Doctoral degree Preferred
