A local Dubuque manufacturing company in the Dubuque area is seeking an Engineering Intern to support its Engineering Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a student pursuing an engineering or technical degree to gain real-world experience in a manufacturing environment while working alongside experienced engineering and quality professionals. This internship offers hands‑on exposure to metallurgical testing, quality processes, lab analysis, and manufacturing operations, helping build practical skills that directly apply to future engineering careers.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with metallurgical and quality testing of materials and manufactured components.
- Conduct hardness testing and document test results accurately. Prepare and evaluate microstructures using polishing, mounting, etching, and microscopy techniques.
- Support laboratory analysis to ensure products meet engineering and quality specifications.
- Assist with data collection, reporting, and documentation of quality findings.
- Help maintain testing equipment, laboratory organization, and quality records.
- Partner with engineering, quality, and production teams on process improvement initiatives.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a hands‑on environment.
- Comfortable learning laboratory testing procedures and technical equipment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.
- Experience using microscopes, precision measuring tools, or laboratory equipment.
- Knowledge of engineering drawings, measurements, or material properties.
