Courier Weekends

Overview

Part-time Weekend Shift Courier for Mercy One Central Iowa. Responsible for the delivery of laboratory specimens, mail, and supplies between Mercy One facilities and laboratory customers.

• Transport laboratory specimens, mail, materials and supplies while delivering excellent customer service.
• Follow established procedures and policies, including infection control and blood borne pathogens.
• Handle chemicals according to safety protocols; maintain cleanliness of vehicles and courier bags.
• Meet defined workload productivity standards and support LEAN principles.
• Utilize courier logistical software and devices to track packages and document routes.
• Ensure temperature-dependent materials are transported at required storage temperatures.
• Attend and participate in department huddles; track packages and optimize transport time.
• Participate in teaching peers.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Two years’ experience as a courier preferred; working knowledge of materials management preferred.
• Valid Driver’s/Chauffeur’s License required; must meet Mercy One’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards; must be at least 18 and eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training within three months of hire.

Schedule:

7:30 a.m.–2:00 p.m. on Saturdays and 8:00 a.m.–noon on Sundays. Locations:
Dubuque and Clinton hospitals and Maquoketa clinic on Saturdays;
Dubuque and Clinton hospitals on Sundays.
